John K. Ma, MD, PhD, joined TRI in 2017.

Dr. Ma completed his undergraduate studies in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Mississippi, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude.  He was awarded the Barry M. Goldwater scholarship, the highest national research award given during undergraduate.  

He simultaneously received his medical degree and completed his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Biophysics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  He completed his internship at the University of Arkansas, as well as a year of clinical fellowship at the University of Mississippi.  He completed his residency training in Radiation Oncology at the University of Mississippi.  In his final year of residency, he had the honor of being Chief Resident.  He received numerous awards, honors and scholarships during the course of his education and training.  He is board certified in Radiation Oncology.

He authored numerous peer-reviewed publications with research interests in head and neck cancer, gynecologic cancer, benign diseases, as well as other malignancies.  He has been invited to speak at national and international meetings on topics of cancer prevention, cancer treatment, cancer research, and biochemical research.

Dr. Ma is an active member of local, state and national organizations including the American Medical Association, American Society for Radiation Oncology, American Radium Society, American Brachytherapy Society, American College of Radiation Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology, and the Kansas Medical Society.  He is fluent in Chinese.
