Patrick W. Townsend, MD, Emeritus joined TRI in 1998.

Dr. Townsend retired as a shareholder of the group in the summer of 2013, and retired from TRI/active medical practice in November 2018. 

Dr. Townsend received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. followed by internship at Evanston Hospital Northwestern University in Chicago. After serving as a flight surgeon in primary care with the U.S. Air Force, he completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center.

Following his residency and completing his military commitment, he joined TRI in 1998 and helped develop active clinical practices at multiple radiation oncology facilities in the KC metro area.  He consistently strove to provide the best clinical care possible and always put the best interests of his patients first.  He served numerous administrative roles within TRI including running the finance committee, serving as executive VP and subsequently, president of TRI.  Dr. Townsend always felt it was a privilege to be a part of TRI and to be entrusted with the care of oncology patients.

Since retiring, he’s now pursuing numerous interests including helping low to moderate income families in the metro area with financial literacy programs as well as tax preparation.
