Patrick W. Townsend, M.D., joined Therapeutic Radiologists, Inc. in 1998.
Dr. Townsend received his medical degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. followed by internship at Evanston Hospital Northwestern University in Chicago. After serving as a flight surgeon in primary care with the U.S. Air Force, he completed his residency at the University of Kansas Medical Center.
Dr. Townsend brings numerous strengths to the group including an extensive background in specialty techniques such as IMRT and Gamma Knife radiosurgery. He has a strong interest in the management of gastrointestinal cancer, head and neck cancer and primary brain malignancies. He is board certified in Radiation Oncology by the American Board of Radiology and recertified in 2001.
Dr. Townsend is an invited member for the Writing Task Force in Radiation Oncology for the American Board of Radiology written examination national exams. He was recently appointed clinical assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is also serving as guest faculty for the nationally published series: Practical Reviews in Cancer Management.
Dr. Townsend is a member of numerous local, state, and national professional organizations including the American Society of Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American College of Radiology.
