Dr. Schomas completed his undergraduate degree at the University
of Notre Dame with Magna Cum Laude Honors. After serving as a commissioned
officer in the United States Air Force, he later attended and graduated
from medical school at the University of Chicago. He completed his
residency-specialty training at The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN
where he served as Chief Resident. He was selected as the Robert
D and Alma W Moreton Oncology Fellow as well as was a nominee for
the Mayo Brothers Distinguished Fellow award.
Dr. Schomas has received national recognition for his clinical and
research efforts. He has been selected to present his research on
cancers of the brain and gastrointestinal tract before national and
international audiences. He has authored and coauthored numerous
publications and abstract presentations. His work culminated in the
receipt of the 2008 Annual Clinical Research Award from the Society
for Neuro-Oncology as well as the 2009 Roentgen Research Award from
the Roentgen Ray Society.
Dr Schomas is a member of the American Medical Association, the American
Society for Radiation Oncology, the Society for Neuro-Oncology, the
Radiologic Society of North America and the American Radium Society.
